Houston, Texas Is Affordable To Home Office Lawyers
It is great being a home office lawyer and braving only the carpet commute most days. But, if you are going to be a spare room tycoon, you need to live and work where there is affordable housing. The bursting of the housing bubble might make this easier or harder depending on your particular situation. However, I note that my area, Houston, Texas has made CNN list of most affordable homes. The median price of homes sales for the greater Houston, Texas area in 2006 was just $162,775. Certainly there are other places even more affordable. However, Houston is a large city with over 2 million people and it represents a large metropolitan area of twice this number. What I am saying is that it has all of the amenities of a mega city without the high costs. There are 56, 405 parks in the city alone. There are 6 renown museums. It is home to the largest medical center in the World with two medical schools (to be three in not too long), and there are three well regarded law school. One of the largest ports in the World, it is near the coast or you can hide up in the piney woods with me just north of town. Sure, as Al Gore will tell you, it is a little hot around here, but you get use to it. I like it.

Chuck,
I don't understand the CNN rankings -- some places with cheaper housing are rated lower than others with more-expensive housing.
Houston weather is great from October to April. I'm not sure what's up with tomorrow's forecast, though -- high of 93, low of 63.
