Dr. Rock Positano, a foot specialist in New York and a health columnist for the New York Post, has a post on HuffPo stating that Blackberries, Sidekicks and Treo-like devices come at a price for connect professionals, like attorneys. Apparently, there is an ever-growing number of orthopedic complaints of those addicted to these PDAs. There are now 8 million people who face thumb problems, many of them as a result of these things.
According to the Doctor, by using the device incorrectly, say by moving their palms together over that bottom third of the blackberry, you can strain the tender tendons that run from the thumb to the wrist.
The solution is tricky. You want to get the tendons as straight as possible, which means that your palms should not touch and your wrists should also be apart. Know, though this advice is hardly foolproof.
