I have communicated with attorneys in more rural settings or outlying areas who have concern about office space. They primarily wok out of their homes, but do not want client's in their homes. They just need a place to meet. I have often suggested looking at prefab work sheds. Set it up on a cheap lot close to home, and use it just as a meeting place. Of course, you could also place it at home for a more private work area if you like.
In this regard, a Florida and California-based company called Cabin Fever has developed the 320 square-foot Maxwell Cabin that can be used for an office.
It is a kit prefabricated in a factory, the parts labeled, disassembles, and then shipped to your location. If you are so skilled you can put it together, or hire someone to do it for you.
At a about $32,500, the price of a reasonable nice car, the cabin is both green and not overly expensive. It is built with a cool roof, insulated thermal glass windows, regionally and sustainably harvested woods, and formaldehyde free glues and adhesives.
Place it on a cheap lot, add some water, a heating and cooling wall system, a little gravel for parking, a sign that states, "meetings by appointment only", and it with financing it still comes in cheaper than the cost of a full time cubicle (not to mention an office) at some co-working center or executive suite. And, you get some free roadside advertising to boot.
