CAN I JUSTIFY THEM?...I REALLY HAVE NO IDEA (SAW VII, VIII, IX?)

10970974_ori The Saw series is one of my all time favorites. It actually has a chance at becoming my favorite franchise of all time (in number of films I like) which belongs to the Rocky series. However, as much of a fan as I am. I was wondering if I could justify the rumored third trilogy. While I am one of those people who would like to see it end after the sixth film. I still find myself saying "What if?". So here we go! I'm going to lay down a couple of pros and cons to there being a third trilogy. I think that I should start with the cons. Just because there seems to be a lot of people against the idea.
CONS
1. The original Saw movie was a box office giant. Grossing almost 100 times its original budget of $1.2 million worldwide. Since then we have seen four sequels that have been able to carry their weight in major box office profits worldwide. (Saw II $147.7 million, Saw III $164.8 million, Saw IV $139.3 million, Saw V $93.4 million. A combined total of$648 million worldwide, makes Saw the most profitable horror movie franchise in history. By far!!) While it is still true that Saw V still has awhile to go, until to finishes its money making run in theaters. There is hard evidence that the series has reached its peak in profit after the third film left theaters. While I still think that it has made really good money, it is sad to see the Saw series fall as hard as it has. I fear that the longer you keep it going on the less and less money it will make. If the series fails to be profitable at some point. We may be left with one of the biggest questions of all, and nobody around willing to answer it, because it will not be to their financial benefit.

2. I have heard allot of people complaining that the Saw series has been losing steam since the third installment. (I don't agree. I thought Saw IV was extremely strong, and Saw V was there for a higher purpose.) Yet, even I fill that the series will become stale after the sixth film. (Now, I don't know that for sure, and I'll explain it later.) I just can't see where they are going to take the films, but I'm not the writer. I tend to like Hoffman, so I would be interested. However, you should ruin a good thing.

3.Tobin Bell has been a issue with the fans. All I can say is that I'm not sure he should be an any installments after at least VII. But the fact is that we haven't seen everything John has to offer yet, and I love the actor and his character. So, no I do not agree with that!

PROS
1. As according to a profit failure on next installment. I would have to say it is a huge possibility. (The numbers have been dropping) The strange thing is that I remember thinking in 2006. "Well, this series has seen its last $30+ million dollar weekend." Look at us now...two years later, and Saw V still made over $30 million on its opening weekend. Being that the first weekend is enough for Lions Gate to make another sequel. I would think that there is a good chance that it can keep making a good enough profit for Lions Gate to be happy.

Now consider that the Saw series is Lions Gate only bigger money making movie series. I'm sure we are all aware that Lions Gate has had trouble in the past. Yet, the Saw series has been a leg to help them stay afloat in this hard cruel world. That being the case, they will not let the film die. However, I'm not sure that the Saw series has seen the last of it's $30 million dollar weekends. I'm still amazed. The fact is that these films do have a big enough hardcore fan base to give it at least a sizable profit if nothing else. Then you should add in the people who just want to see a scary movie in October. (Being that Lions Gate and Twisted Pictures seem to be the only ones who believe in that stuff anymore. I mean High School Musical 3 in October? Worse yet, the same opening day as Saw V. Talk about a scary movie.)

2. As far as the staleness of the series goes... I was not always a huge fan. In fact when Lions Gate announce Saw II. I thought to myself "You have to be kidding me! It is the exact same plot as the first one! I can't believe they would do this to such an EPIC horror film!" Needless to say I was shut down in the theater. I walked out of Saw II thinking that it was way better then the original Saw, and that they couldn't begin to top it. When Saw III was announced. I was think that it was going to be the worst movie in the series, and ruin such a amazing pair of films... Needless to say, I was epically wrong about Saw III (best in the series if I do say so myself.) It wasn't until a month or two before Saw IV where I was sure I was a hardcore fan. I went to see Saw IV, and I was blown away harder then ever in the series. While Saw V failed to surprise me. I was very impressed with the story it told and the promises it made. So yes, I am a major fan, and I would love to see a third trilogy, even though I'm still a little skeptical

3. Lastly, I'm for keeping Tobin bell on for the rest of the series. I think that he is a strong character. (living or not.) There is a span of at least two or three years (maybe more) from his mission beginning and where we are now. There is sooo much we haven't seen. I also think, one of the best things they can do is to bring back Shawnee Smith. Amanda has so much story left to be told. It would be crazy for them not to bring her back at some point.

QUICK NOTE$
1. For the ones saying "Well if the story is good, even there is no reason for them not to make it." I have no problem in you saying that. In fact the story could actually be amazing. They have surprised us before. Why not again? For those of you saying"That is a stupid answer, you can't make anymore story." Shut up! I respect your opinion, but please. If you give me a $100 thousand dollars to write a sequel to Forest Gump. I promise you that you will have the final draft by then end of next month. If there enough money in something, then something can be told. The only difference with Saw is...it may actually be interesting and fun to watch.

2. To the producers, writers, editors, directors, actors, ect... of future Saw films. I will tell you this. Make these films for yourself. Make sure that you know and love the material. Know that what you do is the right thing to do for the series. Do this and know that everything you have done has been to the best of your ability. Please do not put your hearts fully in the hands of the fans of the series. Sure you should listen to their requests, but do not follow every request. In the long run, fans are nothing more the the biggest pain you have to deal with. They are nothing more then crying children when it comes to what you have created. So, I ask you... please, if you, make these movies. Do them the the best of your ability, and take your time with it. Make sure it is something that you can be proud of. If you do that, others will follow, and love what you have done regardless.
