Gary M. Zeiss, Esq.

My gut feeling is that the best way to take the first step is to simply take it, not fret about whether it is the right one or not. Most of us, if we trust our own ethics and common-sense, probably won't create liability for ourselves through missteps, even if it isn't the "right" step.

That being said, if you're marketing, it may be a good idea to call on lesser possibilities first - just to get the pitch down - before hitting on your "sure thing." Also, remember that your "sure thing" isn't one - no one's is - so it's important to treat them like you would any good client - with respect and gratitude.

One of my guiding principles is a quote from "Finding Nemo"... "Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming."

So just take a step - adjust it as necessary - but just take it.

Is this still going on? I would definitely be interested.
