One of my blog's readers believes that Chapman University School of Law provided her all she needed to know to pass the bar and to practice law, and is grateful.
The law school has a pretty good website, which has a number of video introducing you to the law school.
Although the law school was only established in 1995 it is part of the much older Chapman University, which was established in the 1920s. Chapman gained provisional accreditation from the ABA in 1998 and full accreditation in 2002. This is important because this means you can sit for the bar in every state.
The law school is located in Orange, California, which is about 32 miles from Los Angeles.
Although the law school is considered a 4th tier school by U.S. News (and most of us do not care for U.S. News' recommendations as we do not believe they are necessarily honest or accurate), the Princeton Review's Best 170 Law Schools listed Chapman as number 1 in the "Best Quality of Life" category, as number 5 in the "Professors Rock (Legally Speaking) category, and as number 7 in the "Best Classroom Experience" category.
And, although a younger law school, Chapman offers a number of LL.M. degrees including Prosecutorial Science and Taxation.
Chapman also offers a joint JD/MBA program for those among us that are more adventurous than me.
Tuition is rather high and is currently at $34,250 a year. However, Chapman does have new impressive facilities and it is located in a suburban area, meaning commuting costs and living expenses will be cheaper than attending a more urban school. But remember, you cannot ignore the cost of your legal education, especially in regard to the amount of debt you will have to incur to complete law school.
I think Chapman Law's pass rate for July 2007 is 72%. So I agree with the student's assertion that the school teaches her all she needs to pass the bar.
