West Virginia University College of Law is an old line law school. It was established in 1878 and it was approved by the ABA in 1923. It is located in Morgantown, which is an area population of 55,000, is a vibrant, family-friendly community located in North Central West Virginia. But, West Virginia Law is still a great value that anybody wanting to go to law school needs to consider.
Forbes Magazine named Morgantown the 5th best place for business and careers among U. S. metro areas under 150,000 in population. Inc. Magazine name it the 12th Hottest Small City in the country. And, the Guide to Life in America's Small Cities recently named Morgantown the 3rd best small city in America.
It is a public law school, and it is the only law school in the State of West Virginia. But, the school is still centrally located to the East Coast and the Midwest.
It tuition for West Virginia residents is only $10,392 per year, but even if you are out-of-state the tuition is still only $15,064, which is lower than almost all private law schools, and is cheaper than many in-state public law schools. PreLaw Magazine named West Virginia Law one of the best values in law schools.
Although it only has a 72% first time passage rate of the West Virginia Bar Exam, it is important to keep in mind that only 68% of all takers pass the West Virginia Bar Exam the first time out. So, the law school far exceeds the average. And, 92.6% of their graduates find employment soon upon leaving law school.
In short, the school is located in a nice and reasonably priced community near the heart of the country. It offers relatively cheap tuition and costs, even to out of state students. It prepares you well for difficult bar exams. Upon graduation you are employable. What more is there?
