I have posted about the University of Detroit / Mercy School of Law before. (You can click here to read that post). Mercy Law continues to challenge the way law is both taught and is packaged in truly amazing ways. It gears its education toward developing practice ready graduates. And, it is developing itself into being the first truly North American law school. With an increase of 109% among the NAFTA countries in trilateral trade among the United States, Canada and Mexico, Mercy Law first developed the Joint American/Canadian Law Degree Program . This program allows its graduates to earn two law degrees, which allows them to practice law in both Canada and the U.S. Now, it has developed the Joint American/Mexican Law Degree Program that allows its graduates to earn two law degrees so they may practice law in both Mexico and the U.S. Technically, with some effort, it is possible for graduates of Detroit Mercy to receive three law degrees and become licensed to practice in the United States, Mexico and Canada. This beats all foreign study programs or specialized LL.M. programs. Undoubtedly, these programs will allow Mercy Law to be crowned the first truly North American law school, or the first NAFTA law school.
