I am listing to a little Hugo Winterhalter today as I brief a Motion to Dismiss a Complaint filed against my client. What I find interesting about some people like Hugo Winterhalter is that these were instrumental people (pun I guess intended) in the error of music through most of the 1900s in this country, but they past before the advent of the Internet. As a result, they become mostly unknown.
Winterhalter was born on August 15, 1909 and passed away on September 17, 1973, at the young age of 64. In the 1930s he served as the arranger for most of the great bands such as Count Basie, Tommy Dorsey, Raymong Schoot, and Cluade Thornhill, and later for singers such as Dinah Shore, Billy Eckstine, Perry Como, Eddie Fisher.
