Prefabricated sheds are something that I have discussed before. They come in a variety of shapes, sizes and styles. They come from pretty small to pretty big, but one that measures 10'x12' makes a pretty good addition to your property, that can be used for an office, a meeting space, or something else so as to make room for your home office at your home.
Talk about being a spare room tycoon. What about a shed room tycoon?
It is also possible that you can find a little plot of land away from your house to create a meeting space with a shed.
Regardless, I hear from lawyers everyday that either state that (1) they do not have room in their homes to set up a home-based practice, or (2) they lack a degree of privacy at home that prevents them from using an inside space.
Modern-Shed is one of the better known companies and one of the most versatile in helping create a more private oasis at or around your home.
This is important because as of 2004 the Bureau of Labor Statistics show that 20 million Americans work at home at least part time. A 2006 Census study shows that 5 million of us work from home full time. Many of these part and full time Third Wavers are lawyers.
As lawyers, and other, become more comfortable with the idea of working from home this type of shed offered by Modern-Shed and others will only increase. This is a practical and cheaper solution than remodeling, adding on to, or purchasing a new home. Further, it can give the work at home lawyer a sense of trading up in this housing slump. It can allow a lawyer to move home and make a residential property better, and making a home conform to these personal needs without the need for actually selling a home.
I would tend to think that this offers the home office lawyer more solutions in moving as well. The trend is to move closer to town and closer to metropolitan areas where attorneys practice. The problem is that closer to town does not work as well for the modern buyer, where older housing is smaller and lacks some of the private spaces in which to develop a home-based practice. Shed work allows new home purchases to be more accommodating.
This is probably more true for female attorneys. Roughly 60% of inquiries for shed working space come from women.
Below are some picture of finished Modern-Sheds, many of which show how they fit well on small lots.
I have to have me one of those NOW!!!
